Amazon is another online retailer that isn’t worrying about the traditional distinction that Black Friday is for brick and mortar stores - they are having their own Black Friday Sale online and as a matter of fact it has started already! Some tech bargains that I saw:

• Philips 6.5-Inch Digital Photo Frame (Clear & Black) reduced 31% to $89.99.
• TomTom ONE 125 3.5-Inch Portable GPS Navigator reduced 44% to $99.99.
• SanDisk Sansa View 32 GB Video MP3 Player reduced 43% to $199.99.
• Sharp Aquos LC42D64U 42-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV reduced 33% to $999.98.

They are apparently rotating the deals, so it may well be worth checking in from time to time to see what is new.

Toshiba is running a holiday sale on their laptops that runs through November 30.  First, you can save $150 when you customize a Toshiba Satellite notebook PC by using coupon code CRNBRY150 at the Toshiba online store. Then when you get to the website you will find that they are already offering the following on customizable Satellite and Qosimo notebooks:

• Free printer, carrying case, and mouse (after mail-in rebates)
• Free sales tax (i.e. they pay it)
• Free shipping
• Savings of up to 20% on the price. (All but the newest models seem to be 20% off.)

Since Toshiba makes solid laptops, these seem to be good deals and if you select your model carefully the savings is about what you would see on Cyber Monday specials elsewhere.

There’s already Internet television programming, so what not an Internet Television on which to watch it? Apparently they’ll be arriving next year from several Japanese electronics manufacturers:

Sony, Matsushita and three other Japanese electronics makers plan to start selling Internet televisions next year, the Nihon Keizai newspaper reported Thursday.

The new TVs aim to make accessing video and similar online content easier than with current methods such as computers, the newspaper said without saying how it got its information. The other companies are Sharp Corp., Toshiba Corp. and Hitachi Ltd.

They are jointly going to be publishing a common “Internet TV” standard which ought to be interesting since there are so many competing services and digital rights management schemes today.
